Jean Boisserie
Jean Boisserie is undoubtedly the most highly regarded dinandier (coppersmith)in France. Born and raised in the beautiful Dordogne…
Now with increasing age, both John Creed and Jean Boissserie are looking to pass on their knowledge and skills. A new generation of musicians are now performing with the instruments but we need to find a metalworker with the necessary skills to work with these master craftsmen to secure the future of this ground breaking work. Experience of silversmithing combined with blacksmithing and forging skills are required, as bespoke tooling is required. The person must be passionate and committed to working with a team of specialists in the field of music archaeology.
The materials and skills used are:
Bronze sheet (PB102) and copper alloys, in thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm – 1mm

The forming of tubes, round in section, either straight or curved and tapered; these are generally made with one seam and or in halves using sinking through template technique.
Tube joining using various techniques, including butt, splined, cramped, rivets and solder.

Raising, sinking, spinning, wire drawing, repose and chasing.
Hot forging
Planishing and burnishing
Lathe turning, also the occasional shaping other other materials such as wood
